World Environment Day

Saturday June 5th, 2021 was the commemoration of World Environment Day; and as part of its commitment to restore forest cover - with technical support from the NGO Amistad - SAPH, a subsidiary of SIFCA Group, mobilized women and students to plant forest and fruit trees on a plot of 1.17 ha at the SAPH Integrated Farm Unit of Bongo (near the town of Alépé). An activity in which the Managing Director of SAPH Marc GENOT and Dr Coulibaly Sylvestre, IFU Director of Bongo took an active part with their closest collaborators at their side; without forgetting Mr. Brice Delagneau, President of the NGO.

Mr. Marc GENOT used this occasion to say that the "zero deforestation" policy in which SIFCA Group is resolutely committed and implemented through all its subsidiaries: "We do indeed have a commitment, the zero deforestation commitment. This means that we protect all the remaining areas that there are on our IFUs. We urge the communities around us to do the same ”.

The women responded favorably thanks to the tremendous mobilization on the ground led by Mrs. DOFINI Rokia, President of the Association of Dynamic Women of Bongo. And to effectively enable these women to carry out this project, they received a donation of agricultural equipment from SIFCA Group: adzes, machetes, wheelbarrows, sprayers, rakes, shovels and even vegetable seeds for the practice. agroforestry.

Eight various species of forest trees and fruit trees were planted during this environment dedicated day tiama, Mountain Apple , avocado, teak etc ...

In addition to the restoration of this 1.17 Ha plot, nurseries for forest and fruit plants, as well as those for vegetable crops such as chilli, okra, tomato, salad and many others have also been prepared. The maintenance will be entrusted to women, students and eco-citizen volunteers recruited from the community.
