As our business is highly linked to nature, the fight against climate change, ecosystem balance, reasonable use of natural ressources and protection of biodiversity are an integral part of our working techniques in our agricultural and industrial activities on the entire chain of value of our products.

This is why, on its entire scope, SIPH commits to:
1. Reduce its carbon print;
2. Research deploy and instate ecological solutions;
3. Anwser its conformity obligations;
4. Develop the interaction, information and sensitizing of all stakeholders (staff, partners, suppliers, clients ...).

 

To implement a process of continuous improvement of our Environmental Management System in order to achieve the required environmental performance, we have set ourselves the following objectives:

  • To implement a regulatory watch matrix and comply with legal requirements and other requirements applicable to us (including the systematic performance of Environmental and Social Impact Studies on any new project), including SIPH's sustainability commitments of SIFCA Group;
  • To preserve biodiversity, through the conservation of forest areas, and strict compliance with the “Zero Deforestation” commitment of SIFCA Group, and particularly the definition of the HCV (High Conservation Value) and HCS (High Carbon Value) areas, and by the prohibition of all forms of hunting;
  • To encourage eco-design and eco-management on all our business sites, by optimizing the use of natural resources, in order to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and favor renewable resources;
  • To limit the production of waste, to monitor and control our waste recycling channels, with a permanent concern for traceability and recovery of used materials;
  • To limit water intake and effluent discharges into the natural environment, by minimizing the water consumption of our activities, guaranteeing the treatment of effluents, and optimizing the recycling of these effluents;
  • To limit energy consumption throughout the value chain, by seeking a reasonable use of fossil resources and a reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions;
  • To preserve soils, using methods that limit erosion and promote organic life;
  • To minimize the use of chemicals (fertilizers and pesticides), while ensuring their impact on employees, populations, and the natural environment (and exclude products of WHO class Ia and Ib, and products prohibited in the SAN list, and comply with the Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions);
  • To train, inform and educate each our staff;
  • To prevent emergency and pollution situations; to continuously improve our ability to respond;
  • To prevent, detect, and combat any illegal activity harmful to the environment, such as gold mining, or logging of forest species;
  • To make our suppliers and customers aware of more environmentally friendly behavior;
  • To measure our environmental performance and regularly report on our environmental actions and results.
