Managing plantations responsibly

SIPH Group aims to increase its own plantation production from the current 75,000 tons to about 100,000 tons in 2030.

The replanting program in the plantations consists of felling old trees that have reached the end of their commercial lifespan and then replanting the area with higher yield material. Rubber trees are mature after about 7 years and suitable for tapping. The replanting program is managed over the long term, with a responsible approach to smooth out peaks and troughs in production. The target is to increase the plantation produce to more than 100,000 tons by 2030 through a combination or replanting and some area extension.

A rubber tree takes 6 to 7 years to mature. The management of mature plantations (in production) and immature (being created) is the core of SIPH’s work.
