On 11 September 2026, the SIFCA Group’s rubber sector celebrated the 120th anniversary of the first rubber trees planted by what would later become SIPH, at an evening event held on the River Seine in Paris.

Board members, managing directors of the Group’s rubber subsidiaries, staff, banking partners and key figures from the sector gathered for the occasion, alongside distinguished guests, notably representatives from the French Academy of Agriculture, the CNRA and CIRAD, as well as representatives of the first generations of rubber tree planters.

Throughout the evening, several personal accounts retraced the key milestones of this venture, which began in 1906 on the Suzanah plantations in Indochina: three generations of the same family dedicated to rubber cultivation; the origins and development of SIPH in 1937; the merger with SIFCA from 1999 onwards; and the subsequent years of growth that have enabled SIPH to increase its production from under 100,000 to over 400,000 tonnes today.

This journey through 120 years of history also highlighted the men and women who have played a part in the company’s transformation and the passing on of expertise between generations, both past and present.

The evening also provided an opportunity to showcase the work of the SIFCA Foundation, illustrated by the story of one of its beneficiaries from Côte d’Ivoire, who was supported in his studies in Europe thanks to SIPH’s assistance.

Combining remembrance, the passing on of knowledge and future prospects, this celebration served as a reminder of just how inextricably linked SIPH’s history remains to that of the generations who have shaped – and continue to shape – the growth of rubber cultivation today.
