International Day of Forests: Bettié Takes Action for Reforestation
.
While the entire world was celebrating the International Day of Forests, under the theme “The importance of Forests for Food Security,” Bettié, an Integrated Farm Unit of SAPH located about 150 km from Abidjan, held a tree-planting ceremony on March 22nd, 2025. Dozens of forest trees were planted, including the Omphalocarpum ahia, a species classified as Endangered and listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.
This initiative, led by Mr. Edi Anet, Director of the Integrated Farm Unit, with the support of employees at the heart of the site's protected biodiversity zone, is a part of a broader effort to contribute to the strengthening of the national forest cover as desired by the Ivorian Government. It also reflects SAPH’s ongoing commitment to restoring forest ecosystems and, more broadly, fighting global warming.
As Africa’s leader in natural rubber, SAPH carries out numerous environmental actions. One main example is the recent Sustainable Rubber for Communities (CR4C) project, aimed at preserving the Maby-Yaya natural reserve (in the Adzopé region), in partnership with the Ivorian Office of Parks and Reserves (OIPR) and GIZ.
Beyond Bettié, SAPH acts on a regional scale, protecting millions of hectares of forest in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, and Liberia. This approach is perfectly aligned with the sustainable development policy of SIFCA Group, which has designated 2025 as the year of the fight against global warming.
