SIPH bids goodbye to the Managing Director of GREL, its subsidiary in Ghana

Mr Lionel BARRE celebrates the end of 12 years at GREL on August 24th, 2023, as Managing Director of the Ghanaian subsidiary of SIPH, Ghana Rubber Estates Limited.

A graduate of the Ecole Supérieure d'Ingénieurs & Techniciens Pour l’Agriculture, in Rouen and then of the Centre National d'Etudes Agronomiques des Régions Chaudes of Montpelier, Lionel BARRE served as an Volontaire Service National Actif (VSNA) in Equatorial Guinea on various agricultural products.

Building on this experience, he joined the Michelin Group in Clermont-Ferrand from 1987 to 1988 as a Junior Agronomist participating in the development of rubber plantation agriculture, then in 1988 became head of the Agronomy Department at Plantacoes E. Michelin. in Brazil.

In 1996 he returned to Michelin Headquarters in France to manage the Rubber Agricultural Department. From 2002 to 2007 he took the position of Managing Director at Plantacoes Michelin da Bahia in Brazil.

In 2007, he joined the SIPH Group as Managing Director of Rubber Estates Nigeria Limited (RENL), the Nigerian subsidiary of SIPH.

Finally, in 2011, Lionel BARRE became Managing Director of GREL where he served until his retirement in 2023. He was also representative of SIFCA Group on the Board of Directors of BOPP.

He is replaced by Mr. Thierry CAUCHY, new Managing Director of the subsidiary, who assumed his position at the beginning of September 2023.
